To kick off Small Business Saturday tomorrow, I compiled a list of small retailers and brands that I keep returning to, some favorite Herd Supply products, and wishlist items to bring a little indie cheer to your small business holiday shopping. From books to socks and everything in between, I hope there's something you like!
In no particular order, here is the Herd Supply holiday gift guide:
For Being Cozy
Iron Candle holders – $89
We bought these a few years ago and still love them. My mom always used tall brass candle holders, but I like that these sit lower to the table.
Alpaca Linen Socks – $32
Pod is such an inspirational store because they do an amazing job merchandising their tiny space. How cozy do these look?
The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane ($18) and a Puh Erh Tea Sampler ($32)
I had been in a reading lull, but The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane snapped me out of it! As a tea lover, I was intrigued from the title but I didn't know what the book. I'm definitely going to be trying Pu Erh tea this winter inspired by the book.
If nonfiction is more your speed, I can't recommend The Power Broker highly enough! If you're searching for a kids book, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse is gorgeous.
Please grab the books from your favorite local bookstore. If it's not in stock, they can usually get it in a few days :)
For Being Crafty
I'm including these items because it is my goal to learn to knit. I know, I know, I have this business inspired by sheep and I repeatedly fail to learn to knit! If you're in a similar position, I'm starting with socks and we can learn alongside each other.
Fairy Moss Myth Fingering Yarn – $15/skein
Trysten of Dragon Hoard Yarn was my neighbor at Wool & Folk earlier this year. I loved meeting her and seeing her saturated yarn colors. When I visited Rhinebeck the following day, I complimented a stranger's sweater in this color and she told me it was Dragon Hoard Yarn – a sign! After seeing ferns after all the other leaves dropped, I've decided that this color is in season year-round and I'm going to use it for my sock project.
Trysten recommended sock patterns from the Crazy Sock Lady. Another friend recommended the book Knit 2 Socks in 1. Both recommendations came from great knitters, so I don't think you could go wrong with either!
Wool Wash Bar Soap – $16+
The Herd Supply Co. Wash Wash Bar Soap is specially formulated with a high percentage of lanolin to effectively cleanse and condition wool fibers. Whether you're washing your woolens, finishing your natural dye projects, or blocking your newest knits, this bar can help!
Happy Holidays! Thank you for your BIG act of shopping small to support makers and small businesses this holiday season.
